Cat is making a good effort at levity for someone gravely ill talking to a ghost, but there's no masking the genuine strain of pain and dread in his voice. There's more to him being down there than just hiding, Li Lianhua starts to realize that much and concern slowly settles over him like a weight added to his shoulders. But what can he offer the boy to help? The sun will sooner rise in the west than he will rise to his feet again any time soon, let alone carry Cat in whichever shape. He can't see, frankly has no idea where help would even be found. What good would any of it be if he faints or forgets what he's meant to be looking for? He's too tired for anyone to rely on him. The weight bends Li Lianhua's exhausted shape even further, head hanging low, eyes squeezing shut.
Forget it. What there is to do, he'll only know once he tries. Best to get a proper look first... or whatever passes for one between them. Hah. With a lopsided smile and a small twitch of his shoulders that should have been a chuckle, he manages a sort of good-humored tutting sound.
"Tch, Friend Cat, I should be so lucky to see the day that you stop talking back. You'd bully this hole for daring to be a little dusty, if it could listen. No manners," his favorite reproach comes wheezing and frail, softly enough to sound far closer to the endearment it is. "By the way, do you mind company?" With the knuckle of one finger he gently knocks against the floorboards beside him, testing what's truthfully still more guess than fact about Cat's location.
